When storms come off the pacific ocean we get hammered! The Tahoe area is known for record snow fall totals and having some of the best powder this side of the Sierra Mountains.  The average snowpack is nearly 20 feet which is 4 times the average in Fairbanks, Alaska!  

There is a legendary nickname for the snowpack; Sierra Cement.  This builds a nice cement base that makes it so perfect to ski. With a ski season that lasts 6 months and an average temperature December -February of 30 degrees and an average of 300 days of sunshine, it makes the Tahoe area like no other place in the world to ski. The range is from begining, intermediate up to advanced double black diamonds and offers a ton of back-country terrain all over the area.

Cross Country skiing is also a favorite sport in the Tahoe area.  Royal Gorge is located off I-80 in the town of Soda Springs.  Royal Gorge is the largest cross country ski resort in North America and we are within minutes of it!  Tahoe Donner also offers great cross country terrain and is perfect for those that own a vacation home in Tahoe Donner.  You can also cross country ski in Tahoe City.
