What is an Eco Broker?
Ecobroker is an education and certification program for real estate professionals who care about the enviroment and want to promote energy-effcient and "green" features in homes and buildings. Certified Ecobrokers meet buyer and seller demand for real estate professionals with a real understanding of the issues that drive current market decisions.
How and Why David Gemme became an Ecobroker:
To become an eco-broker you must be trained in energy efficiency & green building. Currently 21 states have eco-brokers with less than 200 eco-brokers across the country. However, membership has tripled in the last year. David decided to become an eco broker to be proactive & educated on the different enviromental & energy issues. Also, he wanted to stay ahead of the market & help more buyers. The drilling on the western slopes has given all of us a wake up call and "being green" is becoming more of a mainstream thing rather than just enviromentalist. One thing David has learned so far, is that sellers can get energy efficient loans to make upgrades using energy efficient products and materials. David now has more resources to give homeowners looking to change their outdated appliances to higher efficiency.
